Carrie Underwood Still Touring
Carrie Underwood has been touring in 2016 on her The Storyteller Tour. The country pop star has put out an announcement saying that the tour is going to be extended into the Fall season. This line of concerts are supporting her album Storyteller. Released on Oct. 23rd, 2015, it was her fifth studio disc of her career.
At the time of writing this, 34 concerts were getting added across venues in the United States and Canada. The extension of the tour begins Sept. 4th and wraps on Nov. 28th. All dates will see opening acts of The Swon Brothers and Easton Corbin.
Carrie Underwood has had three prior arena tours that she headlined. The first was in 2008, called the Carnival Ride Tour. In 2010, she played dates in the Play On Tour. Her Blown Away Tour carried across 2012 and 2013. Each tour welcomed over a million fans. The Blown Away Tour featured 112 concerts through 110 cities spread through six nations across three continents. She sold out the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London, and played a pair of nights at the Sydney Opera House in Australia.
The current tour promotes Carrie’s latest album, named Storyteller. Rolling Stone magazine said that album was possibly the most highly anticipated record within the country genre from the year it was released. Zach Crowell, Mark Bright, and Jay Joyce were producers on the album, although Carrie herself co-wrote six of the thirteen tracks on the disc. These include the Number One hits “Heartbeat” and “Smoke Break.”
Underwood has been interviewed as saying that she loves being on tour to perform live for fans. She especially likes this tour over others though, as the stage is set up to give a 360-degree vista over her audience. She cites this as being a ‘magnetic’ experience that allows her to feel connections with her audience and even draw off the crowd’s energy more than ever before, and that is looking forward to the fall dates.
Reviewers of her concerts praise her ability on stage. She presents an all-American prototypical “girl next door” look. She is very lovable, as evidenced by the crowds. Her skills as not just a live performer, but also as a songwriter and even as an actress, show through in her live shows. Her dominance within country music has been evident since her American Idol win in 2005.
Fans who attend her shows in particular highlight her strong vocals, and many also like the slide show of her with her son, where they get to see a glimpse into her personal life and then see its impact on her songwriting and singing.
